How about Fuchsia Friday?

So, you know Black Friday, which would sound bleak any other time of the year, really means the day retailers finally start turning a profit for the year.  Hmmm.  Still seems a bit bleak, but that's a story to contemplate another day.  In the spirit of American Consumerism, and wanting to give you a chance to see what we're so excited about (and a chance to help this little venture grow), we have our own Black Friday Door Buster, though you'll have to bust down the door of our website for this one:

Now, while you enjoy reading that one, and making the recipes, here's what's happening on the winter issue here:
*     Feast of fantastic fun!     *
I did not host Thanksgiving this year, needless to say.  I am also not working off all the pumpkin custard very fast, sitting on my butt at this table, but I am having about the most fun I can imagine.  Well, except for the glue stick part.  I am glue stick challenged.  I can sculpt beautiful plaster ceiling medallions directly on your ceiling, but I cannot get gluestick to stay wet long enough to position my little bits of construction paper on the page.  Perhaps this is because glue stick wasn't yet invented when I was in kindergarten, so I never learned the technique of quick placement.
*     What's on my plate?  Ummm, paint.     *

Making collaged pages takes so many different supplies, and I keep ending up with all of them on the table, and no room to work.  (Yes, I have an art table.  It's full of more of the same, as are two others in my home/studio) Also, I've lost the sticky notes again, which I need for reminders on pages that need me to computer-set type, or drop in photos.  Cat keeps track of these things for me, but having gotten all of her work done on time, she has the day off.

She says when this happens (about every 7.3 minutes) I am supposed to pray to St. Joseph or someone else, the patron saints of lost items.  Isn't there a patron saint of lost causes?  I bet she prays to that one, for me.  I'm not Catholic, as you probably just figured out, but I do actually have a statue of St Therese of Lisieux.  She's the saint of little ways, reminding me to just do the next small step.  As long as I watch where I'm stepping around here, that's probably good advice.  Especially since I often drop things on the floor to photograph them, like these pages:

If you aren't into Black Friday shopping, remember this is a good weekend to start making your homemade gifts.  There are some good ideas in the Autumn Sampler, and we'll have some sweet last-minute ideas in the winter issue too, out as early in December as we can make it happen.

Happy Season of Butter and Sugar!
