Not all magazines are alike.

Not all magazines are alike. As a matter of fact, we are so different, we call ourselves a "bookazine" because we don't have any advertising.  We print on high quality paper and are perfect bound like a book. 365Being features at least one artist an issue and focuses on some of their artwork making it an aesthetically pleasing publication.

I am so excited about the newest issue of 365Being that will be out in December (which is almost here!).  There are so many wonderful articles, delicious recipes, gift ideas and some amazingly beautiful collages.  Dawn-Marie is putting her finishing touches and working her magic this week wrapping things up.  Here are some examples of the beautiful backgrounds that she used to create some amazing Barb Kobe (our featured artist) inspired collages.

365Being is offered both in print and PDF form.  To enjoy it to its fullest, we recommend the printed version as it is a wonderful publication that can be perused and savored on numerous occasions, so you will want to save it like one of your favorite books. You can purchase from our website 365Being.com.

How about Fuchsia Friday?

So, you know Black Friday, which would sound bleak any other time of the year, really means the day retailers finally start turning a profit for the year.  Hmmm.  Still seems a bit bleak, but that's a story to contemplate another day.  In the spirit of American Consumerism, and wanting to give you a chance to see what we're so excited about (and a chance to help this little venture grow), we have our own Black Friday Door Buster, though you'll have to bust down the door of our website for this one:

Now, while you enjoy reading that one, and making the recipes, here's what's happening on the winter issue here:
*     Feast of fantastic fun!     *
I did not host Thanksgiving this year, needless to say.  I am also not working off all the pumpkin custard very fast, sitting on my butt at this table, but I am having about the most fun I can imagine.  Well, except for the glue stick part.  I am glue stick challenged.  I can sculpt beautiful plaster ceiling medallions directly on your ceiling, but I cannot get gluestick to stay wet long enough to position my little bits of construction paper on the page.  Perhaps this is because glue stick wasn't yet invented when I was in kindergarten, so I never learned the technique of quick placement.
*     What's on my plate?  Ummm, paint.     *

Making collaged pages takes so many different supplies, and I keep ending up with all of them on the table, and no room to work.  (Yes, I have an art table.  It's full of more of the same, as are two others in my home/studio) Also, I've lost the sticky notes again, which I need for reminders on pages that need me to computer-set type, or drop in photos.  Cat keeps track of these things for me, but having gotten all of her work done on time, she has the day off.

She says when this happens (about every 7.3 minutes) I am supposed to pray to St. Joseph or someone else, the patron saints of lost items.  Isn't there a patron saint of lost causes?  I bet she prays to that one, for me.  I'm not Catholic, as you probably just figured out, but I do actually have a statue of St Therese of Lisieux.  She's the saint of little ways, reminding me to just do the next small step.  As long as I watch where I'm stepping around here, that's probably good advice.  Especially since I often drop things on the floor to photograph them, like these pages:

If you aren't into Black Friday shopping, remember this is a good weekend to start making your homemade gifts.  There are some good ideas in the Autumn Sampler, and we'll have some sweet last-minute ideas in the winter issue too, out as early in December as we can make it happen.

Happy Season of Butter and Sugar!

Oh, Yumminess!

Our autumn sampler has recipes for finger foods for an Autumn Tea, all of which work beautifully for brunch, tea, cocktails, and potluck offerings all through the holidays.  All are  easy to prepare, but all have a wow factor that makes them extraordinary.
This whole Autumn Sampler issue of the bookazine 365 Being (we say it three sixty-five being) is as rich as this menu.  You really should try it!

We test recipes on friends all the time, and then we tweak to perfection the ones that get the most "begs".  Tweaking them to perfection  involves remaking and re-tasting the recipe many times.  This is not making my butt any smaller, so if you would be so kind as to make it worth the sacrifice of my best fitness intentions, and use the recipes, I'd feel ever so much better. :)

I'm a far better cook than photographer, so we never included these pictures in the sampler issue, but I thought you still might like to see what they could look like on your Holiday table (well, what they could look like if you decided not to wear your glasses, perhaps).  Sigh.

Autumn Sampler issue is on sale through Thanksgiving weekend for only 99cents!  That's the PDF version, so if you still haven't made that pumpkin pie, here's a bite-size version you might like better than the big heavy original.  You can order off of our website at 365being.com right now, and still have time for a last run to the grocery store (though you probably have all the ingredients already, if you bought holidayish stuff earlier this week).

Happy Thanksgiving!

Switching our blog to blogger sometime today...

Cat and DM
"Who's idea was this?"

Whew!  Sorry if the color selection made you reach for your sunglasses!  (Okay, no, not sorry.  If I was sorry, I'd change it.) The Winter edition of 365 Being will be out in a couple of weeks, so Cat, who handles anything having to do with numbers around here (numbers are a little elastic in my artist brain), is running a sale on the pdf of our Autumn Sampler!  Why would you want an autumn magazine at the end of November?

Well, first, because it's not a magazine.  It's a bookazine, and since there isn't any advertising to render it outdated, it never really goes out of date.  Second, there are some really great recipes for finger foods that work throughout the holiday season, and most of the rest of the year, as well.  Third, if you have been thinking of springing for the print version of a subscription, this will give you a taste of what's coming up in the four full-sized bookazines we will send you.  Just be warned that everyone who has seen it first as a PDF, and then the physical book, has upgraded to a print subscription.

Our favorite and most frequent response?  "It's a coffee table book!"

We'll be back on here later today to post some photos and more stuff, but if you can't wait, you can get your 99cent download or just dive in and subscribe at 365being.com.

I've been posting progress reports on the winter issue on my own blog, theartofthehome.blogspot.com , if you want to read more about what's been happening behind the scenes up to now.

Happy Day before Thanksgiving!
